Spark Relief Teachers @ Kepple

Connecting teachers and schools across Victoria & New South Wales

At Kepple, the Spark Relief Teachers program connected teachers and early childhood educators with schools and childcare centres across Victoria and New South Wales. The role encompassed a diverse range of tasks, from creating engaging animations to executing complete redesigns that enhanced user experience. Working as a UX designer at a startup was incredibly rewarding, as it provided the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that made a positive impact in the education sector.

Below are just a few examples of the many initiatives undertaken at Kepple.

Animation

Animations were essential in supporting Spark's visuals, significantly enhancing the overall experience, especially during loading sections. They add visual interest and help communicate functionality. The exploratory and ideation phase allowed for important brainstorming in evaluating different animation options, allowing for creativity and innovation in design. Below is a collection of animations I explored for use when a teacher sends a request, showcasing options that contribute to a seamless user experience.

And that's just one set of animations for a specific purpose. I explored many different options for various needs within the app, as shown below. This approach facilitated a collaborative effort and led to highly effective feedback sessions with team members, helping to determine which animations aligned best with the Spark brand.

Redesigns

Redesigns were carried out within the Spark app, as many screens were outdated and needed updating to align with Kepple's initiative to modernise their visuals. This process involved rethinking the layout, improving usability, and enhancing the overall aesthetic. Below are just some of the screens redesigned for the opportunities page, reflecting a more contemporary and engaging user experience.

Splash Screens

I also contributed to designing the splash screens, which serve as the initial screen users will see for a yet-to-be-released feature on Spark. This was a fun opportunity to let creativity run wild and experiment with various design elements, resulting in engaging visuals that set the tone for the upcoming feature. Below are just some of the options explored during this process.
